LOOPY BIRDS

Project Overview

What is now dubbed “Loopy Birds”, are drawings based off of old doodles I used to draw in my highschool notebooks. I realized over the years I continued to draw these line-art bird doodles in sketchbooks, work-notes, and other miscellaneous spots.

In 2020/2021, I had a job interview that was hiring based on the “hottest new thing” of NFT’s (Non-fungible Tokens / Crypto Art). After not getting the role, I decided the best way to learn and understand this space more was just to jump into it. Despite how controversial and interesting as the space is/was, I wanted to use it as a learning experience.

When creating mine (NFTS), I wanted them to have at least some meaning to me, so if it ever took off I could always pivot the project out of the space into something else. I decided to go back into these fun, quirky, and full of personality line-art drawings of birds. The concept was to make very simple and refined drawings with each bird representing a mood or emotion. Moods in turn would be somewhat related to the flat color chosen for its background. With this simple rule-set in mind, I felt I could always add on and create more “Loopy Birds” in the future.

Project RESULTS

Wave 1 was launched in July of 2021 containing the emotions of; Cool, Angry, Happy, Crazy, Sleepy, and Sad.

While the NFT part of the experiment might have failed, they have been my most reacted too art/design piece. This help encourage a Wave 2 in September of 2023 and an “on rolling basis” of more Loopy Birds throughout 2024. (Totaling up to 20 characters as of May 2024)

They have also been uploaded through GIPHY and are available worldwide through social media and select gif keyboards on your mobile device, for use in Instagram and TikTok Reels and videos and chat threads with your friends.
