Help Me, Rhonda!

Project Overview

“Help Me, Rhonda!” is a web-series created by Lucie Pohl & Jennifer Bailey. It stars New York City based Actress and Comedian Lucie Pohl as “Dr. Rhonda Ripplebein”, a Psychiatrist whom started offering Teletherapy during a global pandemic. The show features a wide cast of guest stars, of whom are fellow comics from the New York City comedy circuit.

The work here was all unpublished conceptual work for the show during the end of its first season with a focus on general awareness, web graphics related to story elements, and merchandise ideas for running gags.

CONCEPT

Graphic ideas came from the shows inspiration by the creators of a late 70’s and touch of early 80’s style sitcom, drawing heavy influence from the art of that time and the TV show “Rhoda”. (Of whom influenced the main character’s name). With the funny coincidence of “Rhonda” appearing very “Andy Warhol” like, I decided to go in a psychedelic and pop-art direction with the creative. Focusing a lot on replicating non-digital art techniques and parody work.

Rhonda Pop Art

Below is some of the other work done for Lucie Pohl’s “Immigrant Jam”, a weekly in person variety comedy show with a changing cast of comics in the New York City area. Most of these concepts were either for merchandise ideas, graphics based on jokes, or for the live stream adaptation of the show over the streaming platform “Twitch.tv”.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

With Nintendo’s “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” being the hottest topic in the gaming world in the Spring of 2020, I decided to make a mock-set within the game for the character of Rhonda. With a huge portion of Lucie’s fan base coming from a gaming background due to her voice over work as “Mercy” in the Blizzard’s “Overwatch”, I was hoping these would create a wider appeal.
